The Spanish Civil Guard has dealt a heavy blow to Latino street gangs.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior, 11 people have been arrested within the framework of 'Operation Bacano'. The detainees are allegedly linked to the Dominican Don't Play (DDP) gang.
Three of those arrested, who have remanded in custody, are charged with a crime of homicide as alleged perpetrators of the murder of a 25-year-old man. The crime was committed on Saturday 5 February in the Usera district of Madrid.
That same day, another 15-year-old boy died after receiving a machete blow to the chest next to the Independance nightclub, in the center of Madrid.
The police operation, which has been carried out in the provinces of Toledo, Madrid and Valladolid, has made it possible to dismantle El Coro (name by which the territorially settled DDP groups are known) of Seseña.
Other 13 people under investigation
In addition to the arrests, there are another 13 people under investigation and several searches have been carried out in various locations in Toledo, Madrid and Valladolid.
In the course of the searches, the Civil Guard has seized blade weapons (machetes and knives), narcotic substances and tools for their preparation and distribution, cash, counterfeit money, material related to the gang and linked with alleged crimes committed by its members.
The Civil Guard has shared a video through its Twitter account in which the seized material can be seen.

The operation has been led by the Court of Instruction number 7 of Illescas (Toledo). The investigating judge has ordered the entry into pre-trial prison of six of those arrested, including the three suspects in the murder in Usera.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the suspects in this case are being investigated for alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, homicide, illicit association, crimes against persons, robbery with violence and intimidation, trafficking and illicit possession of weapons (including firearms), crime against public health and currency counterfeiting, among others.
The 'Operation Bacano' has been carried out by the Information Group of the Toledo Civil Guard Command. More than 100 police officers have participated in it.
