A tiny century-old house with a living space of just 4 square metres has gone on sale in the northern German city of Bremen for 77,777 euros (91,000 dollars).

The house, on a 7-square-metre plot of land in the city's old town, is a single-storey dwelling with a roof terrace, as well as a toilet, a shower, hotplate and sleeping niche. On top of the sale price is an agent's fee of 6%.

"It's perhaps the oldest tiny house in Germany," said Tobias Lachmann from the Kensington Bremen real estate agency, adding that the exact age of the house was difficult to determine.

The price tag for the property was selected because of seven-square-metre plot and because the current owner is 77 years old.

Lachmann said more than 80 parties have expressed an interest in the house, which is located in Bremen's Schnoor district, where small colourful houses line the area's narrow alley ways.
