Three people died in a fire in a care home in Estonia and another was hospitalized with injuries, according to emergency workers on Wednesday.

The fire broke out late on Tuesday in the home, which lies in the north-eastern village of Aa, authorities told local media.

There were 45 inhabitants and two carers in the building at the time.

Heavy snowfall and strong winds hampered efforts to put out the fire.

President Kersti Kaljulaid and other politicians sent their condolences to the victims' families.
