Shots fired at Saudi Arabian embassy in the Netherlands
The embassy urged Saudi nationals in the Netherlands to exercise caution and vigilance.
Several shots were fired at the Saudi Arabian embassy in The Hague (Netherlands) on Thursday, but no injuries were reported, according to local media.
Bullets struck multiple windows around 6 am (local time) and left 20 holes in the building's exterior wall, police said in comments carried by broadcaster Omroep West.
Police subsequently sealed the area around the embassy. They found bullet cartridges.
There was no information available about possible suspects or the motive behind the attack.
In response, the Saudi Arabian embassy in The Hague said none of its employees had been injured in what it called a "cowardly shooting."
Call for caution
The embassy urged Saudi nationals in the Netherlands to exercise caution and vigilance, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported.
The incident comes a day after several people were injured in an explosion at a World War I commemoration in the Red Sea city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia attended by foreign consular officials, according to the French Foreign Ministry.
A local Saudi spokesperson said an employee at the Greek consulate and a Saudi security officer were slightly injured in the Jeddah incident.
