Norway's young Princess Ingrid Alexandra flies in a fighter jet
Before she was allowed to take to the air, the 17-year-old had to undergo a thorough medical check-up
Norwegian Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 17, flew in a fighter jet during a visit to her country's air force.
From the back seat of an F-16 fighter jet, she was able to experience large parts of northern Norway from the air on Saturday, including the Lofoten Islands, the Norwegian Royal Family announced.
Beforehand, the most important missions of the Norwegian air defence had been explained to her at the Bodo base.
Before she was allowed to take to the air, the 17-year-old had to undergo a thorough medical check-up.
Bodo is a good 850 kilometres north of Oslo as the crow flies.
Special commando
For the young princess, this is already the second visit to the military this year. In November, she visited a special commando in Rena. According to the court, more are to follow.
With her flight in the fighter jet, Ingrid Alexandra is following in the footsteps of her father, Crown Prince Haakon,48, who also took a seat in the back of an F-16 as an 18-year-old in 1991.
The fighter jets will be taken out of service in a few weeks and replaced by F-35 fighters.
