A man was fatally shot by police in Sweden after allegedly threatening officers with a weapon, authorities said.
Stockholm police said the man presented a serious threat after being stopped by officers outdoors in Grimsta, a western Stockholm suburb.
This prompted police to fire shots, according to a statement released late Saturday.
The man, aged between 60 and 70, was brought to hospital where he died of his injuries, it said.
It was not clear why police had approached the man.
Photographs of the scene published by the Aftonbladet newspaper showed a bus stop damaged by bullets.
