Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinian women in separate incidents in the West Bank on Sunday, the Israeli army said.
An Israeli soldier shot dead a Palestinian woman on Sunday after she attacked him with a knife at a border post in Hebron in the West Bank, Israeli media reported, citing local authorities.
The officer was slightly injured.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian woman near the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank because she was acting suspiciously, the Israeli army said.
According to the military, the victim approached the forces despite warning shots in the air and requests to stay back. The soldiers then shot her in the lower part of her body.
She reportedly received first aid and was taken to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Israeli media reported that the woman was not armed.
14 dead in two weeks
The situation in the region has been extremely tense after four attacks left 14 dead within two weeks. Israel fears further actions of violence during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which started at the beginning of April.
Only on Thursday, a Palestinian man from the West Bank shot three people dead in Tel Aviv.
Since then, the Israeli army has expanded its activities in the West Bank in order to take action against possible terrorists there.
