Denmark has become the first Nordic country to reopen its embassy in Kiev, more than two months after Moscow started its invasion of Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod visited the Ukrainian capital on Monday and hoisted the Danish flag at the embassy building.

The step is an important symbol of the country's support for Ukraine, he wrote on Twitter.

The embassy will initially continue its work with a reduced number of employees and gradually return to full staffing, according to the government.

Nevertheless, it still advises citizens against travelling to Ukraine due to the dangerous situation.
