Danish premier to change wedding plans due to EU summit
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, 42, has had to rethink her plans for her wedding to her partner Bo Tengberg because of the upcoming EU special summit, she said on Thursday.
"I'm looking forward to marrying this fantastic man. But it shouldn't be that easy," Frederiksen posted on Thursday on Facebook.
The special summit in mid-July is being held so that the EU heads of state and government can find a compromise in the negotiations on the 750-billion-euro (842-billion-dollar) programme to deal with the economic crisis unleashed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The special summit has been called for July 17 and 18, and Frederiksen must be in Brussels on the Saturday when she and Tengberg were planning on getting married, so they have to change their plans again, she wrote.
The couple had already postponed their wedding last summer when Denmark's parliamentary election had gotten in the way and resulted in Frederiksen becoming Danish prime minister.
