A Danish court on Wednesday sentenced a man to a six-year prison term over online sexual abuse involving over 100 boys across the country.

The man, 35, contacted 106 boys via social media including Snapchat.

He used a fake identity, pretending to be a teenage girl, who would offer nude pictures of herself in exchange for sexual pictures and videos from the boys.

If the boys did not continue to send photos, he threatened to post the images he had previously received.

Last week, the district court in Esbjerg, western Denmark, convicted him on multiple counts.

Tried to meet in person

In addition to the prison sentence he was also banned from contact with minors.

Police said the defendant had also tried to meet in person with some of the plaintiffs. This was however thwarted by his arrest in April 2018.

The defendant admitted to possessing thousands of pornographic images and videos of children.
