Denmark allows leisure travellers from Sweden and Portugal
From Saturday onwards, Denmark is to open for travel to and from the whole of Sweden, the Danish Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
Earlier this month, Denmark allowed travel from a few regions in Sweden, including the southern region of Skane, which includes Sweden's third-largest city, Malmo.
Portugal was also added to the list of countries to and from which travel is allowed, following sufficiently low infection rates, according to the Foreign Ministry's statement.
Visitors to Denmark must show they have a booking of at least six nights at a hotel, camping site or a holiday home for entry.
Meanwhile, Romania was added to a group of countries where non-essential travel was to be avoided amid a rise in infection rates. Bulgaria and Luxembourg were also listed in that category.
Restrictions
Denmark applies an accepted rate of at most 20 new coronavirus infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week, but also takes into account general trends.
Other criteria included that Danes were not subject to restrictions.
People returning to Denmark from the Spanish regions of Aragon, Catalonia and Navarra were advised to test for Covid-19.
Denmark closed its borders in mid-March as part of measures to limit the spread of the virus, but has gradually eased the restrictions for most European countries.
