Switzerland rallied from two goals down after missing a penalty to stun world champions France 5-4 in a shoot-out on Monday night for a place in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.
Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer saved the last French spot kick from superstar Kylian Mbappe after all previous kicks from the two teams had gone in.
The Swiss led in Bucharest from Haris Seferovic in the 15th before within a span of four minutes in the second half team-mate Ricardo Rodriguez failed to convert a penalty and Karim Benzema then struck twice for France to reverse matters.
Paul Pogba made it 3-1 in the 75th but the Swiss sensationally rallied to force extra time and eventually the shoot-out from Seferovic's second successful header and Mario Gavranovic's 90th-minute equalizer.
The Swiss completed the remarkable comeback to reach the quarter-finals of a big event for the first time since the 1954 World Cup with a first-ever victory over France in a competitive match.

Now face Spain
They now face Spain on Friday in St Petersburg after Spain survived losing a two goal lead in a 5-3 extra-time win over Croatia.
The French meanwhile failed in their bid to add the Euro title to the World Cup trophy for the second time after 2000.
They had won their opening group game against Germany but had already not looked fully convincing in their following draws with Hungary and Portugal.
