Three suspected 'Trinitarios' gang members caught for attempted murder
The Spanish Civil Guard arrested three people on Wednesday, all minors and alleged members of the Latin youth gang 'Los Trinitarios' in an operation carried out in the municipality of Valdemoro, in the province of Madrid.
According to a press release, those arrested are suspected of having participated in an attempted murder that took place on 25 November 2021 in the vicinity of the Valdemoro train station.
The Civil Guard explains in a statement that the suspects would have approached the victim near the aforementioned station and would have attacked him "suddenly and premeditated, causing him very serious injuries."
The victim suffered blows all over his body and cuts to his legs and trunk and the semi-amputation of his right hand while trying to avoid a cut aimed at his head. The victim was taken to the Valdemoro hospital and is still suffering from the serious consequences of the attack.
The police believe that the alleged perpetrators would be members of the Valdemoro block of the youth gang called 'Los Trinitarios'. And the aggression would be part of a territorial dispute with the 'Dominican Don't Play' (DDP) rival gang. All detainees have police records related to these violent youth groups.
The main suspect in the investigation was traveling on an electric scooter, and was in charge of targeting the victim and attacking her first with a large machete, the Civil Guard specified.
Eight similar operations
In the last two years, the Civil Guard has carried out eight similar operations in Madrid, arresting around thirty alleged members of violent youth gangs. These arrests have made it possible to clarify sixteen crimes, including attempted homicides and serious injuries.
Within the framework of a plan established since February 2022 to prevent the rise of activities committed by youth gangs, the Civil Guard has carried out more than 5,000 identifications of young people suspected of belonging to violent groups. In this period, there have also been 19 arrests and more than 700 proceedings initiated, the majority for illegal possession of weapons and drugs.
