One of Europe's most-wanted fugitives has been arrested in Barcelona, Spanish authorities announced on Saturday.

The suspect, identified as E. K. and dubbed as DEC, is wanted on suspicion of smuggling more than 300 kilograms of heroin from Iran to Slovenia, police tweeted.

The detainee had been included on Europol's list of Europe's most-wanted suspects.

Police did not name the suspect. A government press release only included initials. But police did release a video in which plain-clothed officers can be seen stopping a vehicle, physically removing the driver and then leading him away in handcuffs.

According to Spanish authorities, the man lived with his family in a luxury residential area in Sant Vicenc de Montalt, north-east of Barcelona.

He faces a potential sentence of 10 years in prison in his home country.

The Police arrested him with the cooperation of two Slovenian officers who traveled to Spain for the operation.
