Netflix Spain raises prices: this is what subscriptions cost now
This new price increase - there was already one last June - comes into effect today, 11 October
Netflix, the US internet TV and film production giant, has decided to raise its prices in Spain, according to the newspaper ABC.
This new price increase - there was already one last June - comes into effect today, 11 October.
The company created by Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos will not wait for the usual price adjustment that occurs on 1 January with the change of the year.
Netflix, which offers super hits such as 'The Crown', 'La Casa de Papel' or the Korean 'Squid Game' will increase the price of its standard plan by one euro (up to 12.99 euros) and two euros the Premium plan (up to 17.99 euros).
The only plan that will maintain the previous price (7.99 euros) is the Basic one, which the company uses as an attraction for new customers.
The company says the price change will apply to all new Standard and Premium customers starting today.
Existing customers
Those who were already subscribed to Standard and Premium plans before the price increase will be notified as of 18 October. The increase will be applied to them based on their billing cycle, according to ABC.
Netflix says that the price hike is due to "improvements" in its catalog of audiovisual content.
