HBO Max goes live in Spain with discounts to compete with Netflix
HBO Max began its journey in Spain on Tuesday 26 October.
This new platform replaces HBO Spain.
HBO Max lands in the Spanish market with loads of audiovisual content, discounts and with a greater range of own production than its predecessor.
HBO Max is the result of the merger between the traditional HBO service, which will continue to produce its own series and original films, and the Warner Bros studio.
Both companies have joined together under the AT&T business conglomerate, which makes it possible for the contents of both to be viewed from the same platform.
The platform is thus strengthened with additional resources to compete with the audiovisual giant Netflix.
Discounts
The price of the subscription to HBO will remain at 8.99 euros per month, as explained by the platform on its website.
However, there is a discount for those who choose an annual subscription: the final price will be 69.99 euros per year, which is equivalent to paying 5.83 euros per month.
To celebrate its birth, and as an offer for new customers, HBO Max also offers a discount for the life of their subscription. In Spain this means that new customers will pay only 4.49 euros per month.
This promotion ends on 30 November.
The same features
According to HBO Max, there are no different rates for subscriptions. Both the monthly and annual subscription offer the same features:
- Up to three simultaneous viewings
- Creation of up to five profiles
- Distinction between profiles with adult and children's content
- New improved interface
New content
“HBO Max is now live in six European territories, with 21 more to come in 2022,” said Christina Sulebakk, General Manager, HBO Max EMEA.
“As well as bringing together the very best entertainment, movies, kids programming and original series on one streaming platform available on every screen, we are offering customers outstanding value with a once in a lifetime promotion in addition to a new annual subscription, making it easy for customers to enjoy everything they love,” she added.
Brand new Max Originals coming to HBO Max in Europe in the run up until Christmas include the reboot of Gossip Girl, the next chapter of Sex in the City with And Just Like That… and Mindy Kaling’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.
New European productions include the award-winning Danish drama Kamikaze, the second season of Norwegian hit Beforeigners, and the return of Juan Carrasco in Venga Juan and Dafne and the Rest.
On the other hand, from 2022 Warner Bros films will be released on HBO Max 45 days after their theatrical release in Spain.
