If you are waiting for an important letter from the Finnish Social Security Institution (Kela) this month you should know it may arrive late.

Kela has reported an interruption in its printing service, which may slow down the sending of their official letters by the end of October.

However, the Social Security Institution emphasizes that payments will not be affected by this delay in sending the postal mail.

The reason for the problem is that Kela is proceeding to replace its printers, from which about 80,000 letters come out every day. This printer renewal will cause a two-day interruption in the printing processes, so some letters can be sent to customers with delays.

However, Kela ensures that the payments to customer accounts and to pharmacies will be done as normal.

Out of service 28 and 29 October

The Social Security Institution estimates printers will be out of service on 28 and 29 October. Kela is preparing to clear the print jam during the next weekend, in order to ensure a good customer service.

In case of unforeseen further printing delays, Kela will inform customers of the instructions to be followed.

The social security reminds most of the procedures can be handled through its online service.

Warning: Kela's letters may be delayed this month
