Veikkaus will open slot machines in mid-July
All slot machines will have a time reminder and ask customers how long they want to play.
Veikkaus, the Finnish national gambling operator, last year announced that it would reduce 3,500 slot machines by the end of 2020. According to the new decision, the company will reduce 8,000 slot machines, which is more than planned.
Jari Heino, Veikkaus' Director of Channels and Sales, states in a press release on Thursday that in December of 2020, there will be a maximum of 10,500 slot machines in shops, kiosks, restaurants and stations throughout the country.
At the same time, there may be a maximum of four slot machines per point of sale starting in 2021.
With the new solutions, the company aims to offer safer transactions for those who have problems with, for example, automatic gaming.
From 11:00 AM to 4:00 AM
Heino said, “All of our slot machines will open for play every day at 11 AM and will be closed at 4 AM at the latest. This change is valid until mandatory identification takes effect in January 2021. After that, people have the option to shut down gaming by themselves.”
All slot machines will also have a time reminder that asks you how much time customers want to play.
Veikkaus will open its venue on 26 June with a limited number of customers. Venues refer to Casino Helsinki, Feel Vegas and Gaming Centers.
The decentralized slot machines will open on 15 July. The new responsibility measures are immediately applicable to them. Veikkaus closed all its venues and machines in March due to coronavirus.
Slot machines and gaming venues observe safety clearances and improve hygiene.
