President-elect of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will visit Helsinki on Thursday 24 October, on the invitation of Prime Minister Antti Rinne.
According to the Finnish Government, Rinne and von der Leyen will meet at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Kesäranta to discuss current EU affairs and the Commission’s future agenda.
The main topics be discussed will be the priorities of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, including the finalisation of the multiannual financial framework.
The term of the Commission led by von der Leyen will begin after the European Parliament has approved the overall composition of the new Commission.
