Union wants to close most supermarkets in Finland during ski holiday
The strike that aims to close Prisma stores could affect also the K-Market and K-Citymarket stores.
The Finnish trade union of services, Palvelualojen ammattiliitto (PAM), has communicated that the strike called on workers of Prisma during the next winter ski holiday will be expanded also to the workers of K-market and K-Citymarket stores, which belong to Kesko group.
Earlier this week, the union of services called 50,000 workers of retail and real estate services to a large-scale industrial action. Now, they intend to mobilize also the workers of its main rival group.
PAM reported that S-Group's Inex Partners Oy consumer goods and grocery logistics centre and all Prisma stores would go on strike. PAM was negotiating an agreement with the Finnish Commerce Federation and the collective agreement for employees. However, on Friday negotiations broke off and PAM decided on a large-scale industrial action.
If an agreement is not reached, Prisma stores will be on strike from Thursday 20 February until Friday 21 at midnight. The Kesko logistics will be closed for two days from 27 February, while Kesko warehouses will be on strike for five days starting on 24 February.
