The Finnish police have provided this Sunday more information about the double shooting murder registered in the city of Turku (south-western Finland) in the early hours of Saturday. Two people were killed in the incident and one was injured in an apartment building in the Perno neighbourhood.

The events took place around 4:00 in the morning. At exactly 4:02 AM, a call to the emergency center warned of the shooting inside an apartment building.

According to the latest police information, shots were fired inside the apartment, on the building's stairwell and also outside the house. The person who made the emergency call claimed to have been shot.

One of the deceased is a 25-year-old woman who was unknown to the author of the shots.

The police have not said anything about what she was doing at dawn in the wrong place, nor what relationship she had with the other people who were inside of the apartment.

The target of the attack

The other fatality was a 27-year-old man, who was apparently the target of the attack, according to what the police have learned after inspecting the place and interrogating both the attacker and the witnesses.

When the police arrived at the scene, they also found a 29-year-old man seriously wounded by a knife, who had to be taken to hospital.

Inside the apartment there were also a 23-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman. The two were unharmed and told police officers that they were hiding from the attacker. Two other attempted murders have been added to the charges.

Suspect cooperated wit the police

Police says the suspect has cooperated during the questioning.

"We have received precise information about the curse of the events," Crime Commissioner Mika Paaer says.

The suspect will be presented for arrest early this week, probably on Tuesday.

Based on current information, the police believe that the true target of the violent act was the man who was killed and "possibly" also the people who were in the apartment. The deceased woman and the wounded man were unknown to the perpetrator of the shots.

"They were bystanders who were in the place." As the investigation progresses, the police hope to clarify these points further, Paaer says.

The Southwest Finland police department are requesting observations or information related to the event from the public.
