Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä will lead a Team Finland visit to Japan on 17-20 February 2019 to promote exports and internationalisation. He will be accompanied by a business delegation consisting of 19 representatives, particularly from the battery technology, bio-economy, minerals, financing and energy sectors.

Other participants include specialists in Finnish tourism branding. The official delegation also includes Ville Skinnari, member of Parliament and chair of the parliamentary friendship group for Japan.

During his visit, Minister Lintilä will meet State Minister Yoshihiko Isozaki and Minister of the Environment Yoshiaki Harada.

The Minister will also visit Metsä Village business park and the soon-to-open Moomin theme park, and meet business executives from companies such as Nissan. In addition, the Minister will present the plans for Finland’s Pavillion in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics to the Japanese media.

The programme of the Minister and the business delegation includes a Japanese-Finnish business seminar on Finland’s ecosystem, and a seminar on battery technology in Tokyo.

In connection with the seminar, a Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed by representatives of Business Finland and the Japanese foreign trade organisation JETRO. The delegation will also meet business partners in a seminar on the opportunities for Finland’s battery industry held in Tokyo.

The Embassy of Finland in Tokyo will arrange a networking event for local opinion leaders and the Finnish business delegation.

A key trade partner

Japan is one of Finland’s most important trade partners outside Europe. Finland is known in Japan as a country that excels in high technology development and utilisation, and that looks after the well being of its population.
