Prices of old single-family houses in Helsinki are double than in the rest of Finland
The prices of old single-family houses are double in the Helsinki area than in the rest of the country.
According to the latest figures published by Statistics Finland, in the April to June period the average price per square meter in Greater Helsinki of single-family houses was 3,075 euros, while in the rest of the country the average price per square meter was 1,484 euros. The average price per square meter for the whole country was 1,610 euros.

These data derive from Statistics Finland's index of real state prices, which is compiled by utilizing data from the real state transaction register of the National Land Survey of Finland.
As a whole, prices remained unchanged year-on-year during the second quarter of 2019. Analyzed by region, in Greater Helsinki prices went down by 2.4% and in the rest of the country rose by 0.3%.
Land costs down
Regarding the land costs, in the second quarter of 2019, prices of detached house plots fell by 6% in the whole country from the year before. From the previous quarter, prices of plots fell by 2.7 per cent.

In the second quarter of 2019, prices for new single-family houses rose by 2.8 per cent from the previous year in the whole country. Compared with the previous quarter, prices rose by 0.8 per cent.
The data for new single-family houses are based on the building cost index and price data describing professional and own-account construction.
