The prices of used homes continue to rise in the Helsinki metropolitan area and in other major cities such as Tampere and Oulu, while falling in the rest of the country, compared to a year ago.
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, prices of old dwellings in housing companies rose by 2.1% in Greater Helsinki and fell by 1.8% in the rest of Finland compared to August 2019.
Compared to July, prices went down in Greater Helsinki by 1.2% and in the rest of the country by 1%. In August around 3% fewer transactions of old dwellings in housing companies were made through real estate agents than in last year's corresponding month.

Prices fell in Turku
Compared with the corresponding period of the year before, no significant changes took place in the price development in major regions. According to preliminary data, of large towns prices fell in Turku (-2.6%) and rose in other large towns.
In Tampere prices went up by 3.3%, in Vantaa by 2.6%, in Espoo by 1.6% and in Oulu by 4.2%.
In transactions made through real estate agents, the average selling time (transaction time) of a dwelling in a block of flats sold in August was 63 days in Helsinki, 75 days in Tampere and 70 days Turku, statistics Finland says.
