The police are investigating an alleged homicide perpetrated early Saturday morning in the Vallila neighborhood, north of Helsinki.
According to police information, on Saturday around 1:00 in the morning, the emergency center received reports of a stabbing committed at the intersection of Mäkelankatu and Päijänteentie, in front of the Alepa supermarket.
When the police arrived at the scene, the perpetrators had left the area. The victim was a man born in 2001, who was urgently taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries later in the morning.
Police said in a press release that three underage children are currently suspected of the crime. Two of them were located on Saturday and one of them is currently in detention. The suspects are between 14 and 16 years old.
Cameras inspected
"On Saturday, the police conducted an investigation in the area and, among other things, looked at the recordings of the surveillance cameras located in the area," explained inspector Jukka Larkio, from the Helsinki Police Department.
Police say the suspects had moved before the incident in the Vallila area in a group of five, two of whom were girls. The police are asking people to report any relevant observations related to the events in front of Alepa's store.
