The Finnish police released today a statement to inform that they are investigating an aggravated sexual assault perpetrated against a minor on Midsummer's day in Joensuu (eastern Finland).

According to the information provided, a 17-year-old girl was raped on June 22nd, probably between 4:00 and 6:00 o'clock, at Utra Beach. The case has been being closely investigated during this week by the Joensuu police, and very few details have been made public.

The police says that they know "the suspect author arrived by car" on the beach that night, though "there are no eyewitnesses". At this stage of the investigation, "the police do not have any information about the color, model or brand of the vehicle". The characteristics of the suspect are not clear either.

For this reason, the investigators are asking for citizens collaboration. If anyone has any clues or observations, for instance about circulating cars on the beach or in the nearby that night, can report via email to [email protected] or by phone to the number 0295 415 455.
