Police ask for help identifying stabbing suspect in Helsinki
The Helsinki police department has released two photographs of a man suspected of having perpetrated a stabbing in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday in Helsinki.
According to police information, the Helsinki emergency center received a call around 1:30 am that warned of a violent event that occurred in the central Kaivokatu street.
The police believe that the fight started earlier, in front of a restaurant located on nearby Yrjönkatu street, and two groups of people were involved in it.
The situation started with a disagreement and soon turned into a small fight. In the end, two men attacked one who was stabbed, police say.
The suspects had fled before police reached the scene. The victim, who sustained a life-threatening injury, was taken to hospital. The police classify the crime as attempted manslaughter.
Clues needed
The police are looking for the alleged perpetrator of the attack, a man around 20 years old, 180 centimeters tall with short dark hair.
At the time of the stabbing, the suspect was wearing dark clothing and carrying a shoulder bag with a purple strap.
The police ask the public for any clues that may lead to the identification of the suspect.
