Old single-family home prices fell across the country except in Helsinki area
Prices per square meter in Greater Helsinki are more than double that of the rest of the country.
In the whole 2019, prices of old single-family houses fell 1% on average across the country.
However, that does not mean that prices went down in every single region. According to Statistics Finland's data, in the Greater Helsinki area, the price of old single-family houses increased by 2.4%, while in the rest of Finland they went down by 1.3%.
The price difference between Helsinki and the rest of the country is also large. The average price per square meter for a single-family house was 3,116 euros in Greater Helsinki and 1,463 euros in the rest of the country.
In 2019, prices of single-family house plots fell by 3% in the whole country. In Greater Helsinki they went up by 5%, while in the rest of Finland they went down by 5.6%. In 2019, the average price per square metre for a single-family house plot was 180 euros in Greater Helsinki and 16.8 euros in the rest of the country.
Last year, 4.3% more transactions of old single-family houses were made than in the year before. In Greater Helsinki, 21.6% more transactions were made, and in the rest of Finland 3.4%.
Last quarter of 2019
In the last quarter of 2019, prices of old single-family houses fell by an average of 1.2% from the previous year. In Greater Helsinki, prices rose by 8.8% and in the rest of the country they fell by 2.3%.
Compared with the previous quarter, prices of old single-family houses decreased by an average of 2%.
In the whole country, the average price per square metre for old single-family houses was 1,576 euros in the last quarter of 2019. In Greater Helsinki, the average price per square metre of single-family houses was 3,118 euros. In the rest of the country, the average price per square metre was 1,436 euros.
In the fourth quarter of 2019, prices of single-family house plots fell by 2.1% in the whole country from the year before. From the previous quarter, prices of plots fell by 0.4%. The average price per square metre for a single-family house plot was 25.4 euros and the average size of sold plots was 2,774 square metres.
