Norwegian, the low-cost airline based in Norway, has just announced its intention to enter into competition with Finnair for one more portion of the domestic air-traffic business.
According to a press release, next autumn Norwegian will offer to the passengers regular flights between Helsinki and the city of Vaasa, in the west coast. Until now, the only airline providing this service was the Finnish national flag carrier, Finnair.
Norwegian informed that flights between Helsinki-Vantaa and Vaasa airports will start on 1 November. There will be flights twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, according to the data provided.
Fuel-efficiency
"The Finnish market is important to us and we are glad that we can open a new domestic route in Finland and at the same time expand our offer to our passengers. We welcome passengers on our flights with our new and fuel-efficient aircraft", said Norwegian's SVP commercial Short Haul Magnus Thome Maursund .
Norwegian claims to be "continuously introducing new and fuel-efficient aircraft". According to the company's website, the average age of the fleet is 3.8 years and is "one of the youngest and most environmentally friendly in the world".
Norwegian's fleet currently has over 170 aircrafts.
