Migri's office in Malmi to open four Saturdays in April and May
Migri's service point in Malmi (Helsinki) will be open four Saturdays in April and May, the Finnish Immigration Service said in its latest customer's bulletin.
The immigration agency has decided to open on Saturdays following recent news reports and Twitter threads recounting the administrative chaos generated by the lack of available appointments: long queues in the street from early morning hours, customers in the cold - sometimes even with babies in their arms - and people desperate to get their residence permits renewed.
According to Migri's customer bulletin, the Malmi service point in Helsinki will be open from 9:00 to 15:00 on the following Saturdays: 24 April, 8 May, 22 May and 29 May.
However, Migri warns that on Saturdays it will not be possible to access the office without a pre-booked appointment.
50 appointments per day
"Saturday appointments can be booked in our appointment system usually every Tuesday of the same week. It is not possible to visit the service point with a waiting number on Saturdays," the agency says.
Migri says that appointments for April-May will be available every week in their booking system and promises that "approximately 50 appointments will be added per day".
