The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) now says the money from Moni cards will not be transferred in May to the new PFS cards.
Moni prepaid cards used for the payment of reception allowances and wages to the asylum seekers stopped working on 30 April. Migri promised one and a half months ago that the transfer of the remaining amounts to the new PFS cards would take "at least two weeks" but would be done in May. But now they say that will not be possible.
"All Moni cards that have been used to pay salaries and reception allowances are being replaced with PFS cards. We announced earlier that all the money left on the Moni cards will be transferred to PFS cards in May. Unfortunately, there have been problems with this, and we are not able to transfer the remaining money in May", said the Finnish Immigration Service in a new Customer bulletin.
Looking for a solution
According to Migri, they are trying to find "a solution to the problem as soon as possible" with the card company Moni Nordic Oy. "We will inform our clients about any updates as soon as possible. We apologize for the situation and the problems this is causing our clients", says the release.
Migri recommends those customers who still have a Moni card to withdraw "all" their money from their accounts. "If you do not have your Moni card anymore or your card is not working, you will get your money back later", they promised.
