Postal shipments throughout Finland are being delayed these days due to the postal strike that started last Sunday and will end on Wednesday 4 September at midnight.

Also the letters that the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) has sent by post to its customers will probably arrive somewhat later than normal. For example, residence permit cards and decisions that are served may arrive later than usual.

Likewise, letters sent to the Finnish Immigration Service may arrive later than they would normally arrive.

Exceeding due date will not affect your matter

The Finnish Immigration Service informed today its customers that exceeding a due date during the postal strike will not affect their matters.

"If you have sent something to the Finnish Immigration Service by post and the delivery is late because of the postal strike, this will not affect the processing of your matter. For example, if you have been asked to send additional documents by a certain date, it does not matter if they arrive late due to the postal strike, as long as you have sent them before the end of the time limit", Migri said in its latest customer's bulletin.

According to Migri, the strike does not affect residence permit card deliveries to Finnish missions abroad, because a private company takes care of them.
