An appointment with Migri is not a reason to cross the Uusimaa border
If you have a Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) appointment and you need to cross the Uusimaa border (the province around Helsinki), these are bad news for you. Migri appointments are not a valid reason to cross the checkpoints established by the police in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.
According to Migri's latest customer bulletin, “You cannot cross the Uusimaa border, even if you have booked an appointment at a service point of the Finnish Immigration Service.”
The same rule applies in reverse, if you live in the Uusimaa region and your appointment is in an immigration unit of another region. Either way, you must cancel your appointment and take a new one.
If you have a pending application in Enter Finland, you can reschedule your appointment through Migri’s appointment system.
Migri said, “New appointment slots become available all the time. If there are no slots available, please be patient and check back later.”
Book at the nearest service point
Also the Finnish Immigration Service asks the people should try to book their appointment with the service point nearest to them, even if there are appointments available at other service points.
You can update the time of your appointment in the Enter Finland online service HERE
In the information note, Migri said, “You should normally visit our service point to identify yourself within three months of the date on which you submit your application. However, owing to the coronavirus situation, the time limit for identification has been extended until 31 August 2020. The time limit may be reviewed depending on how the situation evolves.”
