The bell rang Monday night, at 22:15 in an apartment in Junailijankuja, in east Pasila (Helsinki).
A 49-year-old man came to open the door and, as soon as he did, was shot in the stomach area.
That is, according to police information, the summary of a case that is currently being investigated by the Helsinki Police Department as a murder attempt.
"When the man had opened the door, another man in the stairwell shot him with a firearm. After the shooting, the suspect left the scene," says Jari Koski, from the Helsinki Police Department.
Suspect not found
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was found to have a gunshot wound in the stomach area. According to the police, his life is not in danger. So far, the suspect of the shooting has not been found.
"The investigation is still at an early stage, so the reasons behind the shooting and other details of the incident are still under investigation," Kosi added.
However, the police think that this can be a settling of scores between two people who previously knew each other. For that reason, they believe that other people unrelated to the case are not in danger.
