The chairperson of the Left Alliance (Vasemmistoliitto, in Finnish), MP and former Minister of Education Li Andersson, has given birth to her daughter.
The happy news was communicated by the former minister through her Instagram account, in which she posted a photo of herself and the baby.
Alongside the image, Andersson wrote in Finnish and Swedish:
"The most wonderful creature in the world arrived in the world this week even though she might have preferred to continue in safe full care in the womb. But now she is here and we are the happiest in the world."
Back to duty
Andersson plans to return to the government as Minister of Education next summer, after maternity leave.
On Thursday 17 December, the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö appointed Jussi Saramo, also an MP from the Left Alliance, as Minister of Education to temporarily replace Li Andersson.
Andersson started to work as Minister of Education for the previous government headed by Antti Rinne. After Rinne's resignation, she continued in office working for the government headed by Sanna Marin.
