Kela will close the contact number for participants in the basic income experiment on 1 February 2019. The participants are invited to contact Kela at the regular customer service numbers, which respond to questions about specific benefits and circumstances.
The contact number for basic income clients is being closed because the number of incoming calls has declined significantly in January. The basic income experiment ended on 31 December 2018.
The two-year basic income experiment was conducted in 2017‒ 2018. In the experiment, 2,000 randomly selected unemployed persons were paid a monthly basic income of 560 euros regardless of any other income they may have had or whether they were actively looking for work.
Kela’s website contains information on the steps that customers should take after the end of the experiment.
