Kela to launch customer services in Russian, Arabic and Somali in September

With this initiative the Social Security Institution aims to reduce the need for interpreters.

The Finnish Social Security Institution (Kela) will launch telephone services in Arabic, Russian and Somali on 1 September.

These services are intended for those customers whose language skills in Finnish, Swedish or English are not good enough to satisfy their needs.

Kela informed in its website that these services seek to reduce the need for interpreters. The Social Security expects that as the customers integrate in Finnish society and acquire language skills, they will be directed to use its services in Finnish, Swedish or English.

But in the meantime, here are the phone numbers and timetables to get customer assistance in Arabic, Somali and Russian languages:

Apart from this, Kela also informed that the opening hours of the telephone service in Sami language will not change.
