Find here the guides that explain in simple language the existing social benefits in matters such as unemployment, pensions, health, housing, families and children, among others.

Earlier this year, the Finnish Social Security Institution (Kela) published a series of benefit guides in Finnish, Swedish and Sami.

These benefit guides have now been published also in English, Russian and Estonian, for those who do not understand any of the local languages.

The guides explain the existing social benefits in matters such as unemployment, pensions, housing benefits, families and children, social assistance, health an rehabilitation, and moving to Finland.

Kela says the guides in English, Russian and Estonian are updated every two years.

A guide on benefits for students and conscripts will be updated and published separately at a later time.

Customers may order copies of these and all previously published guides in Finnish and Swedish.

Each benefit guide focuses on a specific category of benefits available from Kela:

For the newly moved

Kela says the translated versions can be particularly useful to people who have recently moved to Finland and do not yet understand Finnish.

Printed copies of the benefit guides are available at Kela’s service points and at citizen service centres.

Customers can order copies by email from lomakevarasto@kela.fi.
