On June 1, 2020, the new Road Traffic Act will come into force in Finland.
The new legal framework will introduce a series of changes, penalties and even new traffic signs, which drivers will soon notice in Finnish roads.
One of the most striking is the new blue signal with a white border, which will be used to inform the minimum speed at which drivers must travel along a certain section of the road.
Dennis Pasterstein, director of the Police Traffic Safety Center, warned a few days ago through his Twitter account that the police may impose fines of 100 euros to those who circulate below the minimum allowed speed. And he wondered where these signs will be placed.
"It will be interesting to see where this road sign will be used," he commented.
1.6.2020 uuden tieliikennelain voimaantultua voi poliisi määrätä alinopeudesta liikennevirhemaksun 100 euroa. Voidaan valvoa myös liikenneturvallisuuskameroilla. Mielenkiintoista nähdä, missä liikennemerkkiä tullaan käyttämään. pic.twitter.com/hoJYoO6MK8

According to the Police, minimum speeds can be also monitored by road safety cameras.
