On Friday 11 October, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed Turkey’s military operation in Syria, informed the Government Communications Department.
According to the information released, "Finland considers that there is no military solution to the Syrian conflict". Finnish authorities have expressed their "concern" about the humanitarian situation in the region and called upon Turkey to cease the military action.
The Government announced will not grant new arms export licences to Turkey or other countries engaged in war.
Additionally, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the preparations for a new Government Report on Finnish Foreign and Security Policy.
