Top experts meet in Finland to discuss work-related cancer
Annually more than 100.000 people die because of work-related cancer.
As part of the EU Presidency program, Finland is organizing the Roadmap on Carcinogens conference ‘Working together to eliminate occupational cancer’ on 27 and 28 November in Helsinki.
At this conference, the Roadmap Partners will review the achievements of the past years and will look forward to further developments in legislation, activities and cooperation.
The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) is running a Europe-wide campaign to promote the prevention of risks from dangerous substances in workplaces. The aim is to reduce the presence of and exposure to dangerous substances in workplaces by raising awareness of the risks and of effective ways of preventing them.
The campaign will bring a group of top experts in the field to Finland.
The two-day conference will be opened by Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen.
Conference attendees include Christa Sedlatschek, Executive Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, Björn Hansen, Executive Director of the European Chemicals Agency, and representatives of the European Commission.
