Migri also accumulates backlogs in the processing of residence permits for students and in the delivery of residence cards.

The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) has notified its clients of imminent delays in the processing of citizenship applications "in October". Nothing very strange, when taking into account that Migri already accumulates delays in the processing of residence permits for students and in the delivery of residence cards due to lack of sufficient workers.

The striking thing is that the immigration authority has released this notice in its Customer Bulletin on 30 September, that is when there is only one day left until the beginning of October and the aforementioned delays.

"Unfortunately there will be delays in the processing of citizenship applications in October. The Finnish Immigration Service is piloting the partial automation of the processing of citizenship applications, and this is causing some delay", Migri informed.

According to the immigration agency, their goal is that "routine tasks, such as the various register checks, could in the future be performed automatically. In this way, the employees of the agency could focus on the more complex cases that require investigation".
