Car stolen in Eastern Finland with small child inside
The small industrial town of Varkaus, located in the region of Eastern Finland, was shaken on Wednesday by an unusual event that had a small child as a circumstantial victim.
According to a statement by the Eastern Finland Police Department, in the morning a car was stolen near a shop parking lot in Kommila, an area where there are several shops and supermarkets.
Car thefts are common, but this case was more dramatic than usual because the thief also took with him a child under the age of five who was inside the vehicle, probably while their guardian was running errands.
Fortunately, it was just a scare. According to police information, the car was located about 40 minutes later in the urban area of Varkaus. Inside, the child was found unharmed.
The police arrested a local Finnish man in the vicinity of the place, who is at this moment the main suspect.
Investigators believe that the suspect may have committed crimes of motor vehicle theft, deprivation of liberty and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
