The police are investigating a traffic accident that took place in Helsinki's Munkkiniemi neighborhood on Monday 5 October at about 18:00.
Police suspect that a van driven by a man born in the 1990s hit an 8-year-old child at Huopalahdentie. According to police information, the child had gotten out of a car parked on the side of the street when a van passed and run over him.
The van left the scene without stopping, but police reached the vehicle and its driver in Paciuksenkaari with the help of a bystander.
An ambulance took the child to the hospital to check and treat the injuries.
The police are investigating the events as a case of endangering traffic safety and injury.
