All restaurants, cafés and bars must be closed everywhere in Finland starting at midnight on Friday, 3 April. They will remain closed to customers from Saturday 4 April to 31 May 2020. Closure is necessary to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, emphasized the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Employment in a press release.

Preparing meals for take away will be allowed. Restaurants and cafés selling products for takeaway must follow general recommendations and make careful arrangements for ensuring that no contact is made with customers that could cause a risk of infection.

The order to close restaurants does not apply to personnel canteens that are not open to the public. Similarly, canteens in hospitals, day care centres and industrial facilities are allowed to remain open.

Support is available for entrepreneurs at least in 14 different languages.
