Number of coronavirus deaths in Finland rises to 9
Finland added 2 other fatalities on Saturday to its list of deaths caused by the coronavirus (koronavirus, in Finnish). With there are already 9 deceased in the country.
The figures were released by the National Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) at around three in the afternoon.
Of those 9 deaths caused by Covid-19 epidemic, 7 have been reported in the HYKS special responsibility area (around the city of Helsinki), 1 in the TAYS area (Tampere and surroundings) and 1 in the OYS special responsibility area (the north part of Finland).
According to THL, there are currently 112 patients hospitalized, 31 of whom are in intensive care.
1,163 infections reported
On Saturday 28 March at 9:30 a total of 1,163 laboratory-diagnosed cases of Covid-19 had been reported.
Of the infected people, 53.5% are men and 46.4% are women.
The figures are based on the figures reported by the laboratories to the Register of Communicable Diseases, which are updated according to the sampling data. However, the health agency admits that the actual number of infections in Finland is likely to be higher, as not all people with mild symptoms are tested.
