Spain cuts quarantine duration for Covid positive cases to 7 days

The Spanish Public Health Commission, in which the Ministry of Health of the central government and the health authorities of the autonomous regions participate, unanimously approved on Wednesday to reduce the duration of mandatory quarantine in people positive for Covid-19 to 7 days, from the current 10 .

From now on, people residing in Spain who test positive for coronavirus should not isolate themselves for 10 days as previously established, but only for a week, as reported by the Spanish media.

This applies to asymptomatic positive cases.

Unvaccinated people who have had close contact with a positive case must also quarantine 7 days instead of 10. On the contrary, and as was already established, fully vaccinated people who have been in close contact with a positive case will not need to be quarantined.

The measure comes after the United States reduced the quarantine to five days, and with omicron infections on the rise throughout Spain.
