Etelä-Savo Social and Health Care Welfare (Essote) is investigating a possible case of coronavirus (or koronavirus, as spelled in Finnish). The case has come to the attention of Essote today and preliminary results from laboratory tests are expected to be available tomorrow at noon, according to the Finnish Broadcasting Network (Yle).
Essote emphasises that, based on preliminary information, the probability of infection is low, but the situation must be confirmed.
Coronavirus COVID-19 is tested in the laboratory if the person suffering the symptoms has been in the area of the epidemic or in contact with a confirmed coronavirus patient.
Earlier today, a suspicion of coronavirus infection in Jyväskylä came to light. On Tuesday, a passenger travelling on a Helsinki-Jyväskylä train reported symptoms compatible with coronavirus infection.
