More than 100,000 people infected with coronavirus worldwide
The coronavirus (koronavirus, in Finnish) continues to spread throughout the world.
On Friday, the disease overcame the psychological barrier of 100,000 infected people, according to the latest data from the real-time map created by the John Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
So far, the health authorities have confirmed 100,052 cases of infection and 3,400 deaths worldwide.
The good news is that more than half of the patients have already recovered. According to the data provided by John Hopkins University, there are 55,671 cases of patients counted as fully recovered.
China, with 80,556 cases and around 3,000 deaths, remains the country most affected by the virus, which emerged in its territory. In second place is, at a great distance, South Korea, with 6,593 cases diagnosed to date and 40 deaths.
Iran ranks third with 4,747 cases found and 124 deaths. And in fourth place is Italy, which is the most affected European country, with 3858 cases diagnosed and 148 deaths.
