Masks no longer mandatory in school yards and workplaces in Madrid
As of today, Monday 25 October, facial masks are no longer mandatory in schoolyards and in work centers in the Madrid region.
The measure, decided by the regional government, could be applied if the safety distance of 1.5 meters between people can be maintained.
Precisely for this reason, the decision has been questioned by some school directors, who remind that play between children often involves shorter distances and even physical contact.
Many educational centers have chosen to maintain the mandatory use of the mask as they cannot guarantee respect for the minimum safe distance in the schoolyard.
The decision of the regional government affects educational centers that teach early childhood education, primary education, compulsory secondary education, high school, professional training, language education, elementary and professional music and dance education, professional visual arts and design education, sports teaching and adult education.
In workplaces
Likewise, the regional government allows employees to stop wearing masks in workplaces, as long as they remain seated and the safety distance of 1.5 meters can be maintained between workers and other users of the the premises.
The mask will no longer be necessary during participation in legal proceedings, nor will it be necessary in swimming pools during bathing and while staying in a certain space, without moving.
